Gradient - Grad Show Branding

about

"Gradient" is the concept that I developed to brand the end-of-year grad show for the graphic design students at Fanshawe College. I utilized a mixed selection of type to build the wordmark, and used a design motif that revolved around compositionally varied gradient maps. The assets created were to be the physical branding for the in-person event.

challenge

The primary challenge in this project was to create an identity that would encompass and relate to a wide variety of designers, while simultaneously acting as a farewell to all the students that would soon be graduating from the program. After observing the previous themes for the grad show, I wanted to take an approach that was more alternative and experimental.

results

I'm very happy with the final result of the presentation. I felt that the presentation was cohesive and consistent, and represented designers in a bold, modern way. Ultimately, this concept was not chosen for the grad show but was a finalist within the selection of presentations to be chosen for the final branding. I was able to experiment with mixed type, bold layouts and various mockups to bring the concept to life. This was a very satisfying project to me overall.
